Solo piano composition.

Written as a passionate lament, filled with heartache and
hesitant desire.

– Story –
She was just 17; he was 19. A young romance, cut-off at first
bloom.
In a suburban parlour room, with only a wireless and fireplace
for company, held only by the slow, cold hands of a ticking
clock, Mirla is longing for Arthur and hoping for his safe return.

– Conversation Notes –
The piano’s melancholic melody emotes the listener to reflect on
Mirla’s situation: her loneliness, wistfulness and romantic
longing.

The piano exists in an isolated, dream-like space: a turreted
room, in a crystal castle, afloat clouds in the sky, piano notes
descend, land, shattering and tinkling, like frozen tears on a sea
of glass.

This lament has the power to pierce any snow queen’s frozen
heart. The melt-water music brings life to a desolate hillside –
the empty canvas of Mirla’s solitude. These musical notes are
flowers: breaking through to dot the bucolic scene with pastel
colours of hope, promise and romantic longing.
